On the northern of the city, Juanda additional Park offers nice walks and good spots of picnics. This park is a conservation area which consists of rare species of plantations. Strolling along the park, you will find the underground fortifications made by the Dutch and the Japanese army. The Dutch tunnel is a built-up fortress attached to the slope of the hill. Furnished with cement and constructed as if it is a real building. It as metal gates at the entrance and exit area. There are plenty of rooms inside for storage and barrack, from ground to 2nd level completed with cement stairs and surveillance balonies. The Japanese tunnel is much more plain and unfurnished. It has only several long soil areas. The Dutch Army also constructed a tunnel to channel the water for a power station. This construction came I handy for the Japanese army who came letter.
This park has a popular trail leads up through the Cikapundung gorge to Maribaya, Lembang. It takes around 1 – 1.5 hour walking through the park untul Lembang Area. On Sundays and public holidays the park is more crowded than other days.
